Langton Labs hosted a concert by Gamelan Sekar Jaya this Saturday. Dozens of musicians played in three different traditional Balinese styles, including the Western Hemisphere's only "gamelan jegog" (pictured above), beautiful instruments made out of immense bamboo. (Langton's own Laurel played one of the bass instruments in the jegog.) It's not every day that a world-class ensemble performs inside your house... though maybe it should be! Rupa led a crew of Langtonites in a mad day-long catering fest as well.
I have some photos of the gamelan up, with more to come at that link. Hopefully this will be the first of many live performances at Langton Labs!
